Whipped Orange Butter

One thing I look forward to when I go to restaurants is the bread baskets.  I'm a carboholic, so when I see that basket piled high with warm airy bread I'm in heaven.  I'm perfectly content with a big bowl of bread, but when it's served with a side of creamy, light, whipped butter.  Well, then move over.  That stuff is all mine!

What is it that is so magical and tempting about butter that has been whipped to airy perfection?  Then when you add a flavor to it...honey, vanilla, orange, just to name a few.  It elevates it to a whole new level.  Call it compound butter and you've just blown everyone's mind!

Biscoff and Salted Caramel Chocolate Baked French Toast

TGIF y'all!

I don't know about you, but I am beyond ready for the weekend.  And I have just the thing to celebrate it's arrival.  Biscoff and salted caramel chocolate hazelnut french toast.  Yes, it's a mouthful but it is AH-MAZING!

I actually made this recipe for the first time over Christmas break.  My little man was dying to go over to his cousin's house and hangout while they were out on break.  Once he voiced his desire to do so, we quickly scheduled a play date.  I wanted to do a little something special for them, so I came up with this recipe and took it over when I dropped him off for the day.

Stuffed Bell Pepper Soup

During the summer we have a garden packed full of fresh tomatoes, onions, potatoes, strawberries and bell pepper, just to name a few things.  There's nothing better than walking out to the garden and snagging the ingredients needed for the evening's meal.  Talk about fresh!

When I have those big, beautiful bell peppers starring at me through the window there are several recipes that come to mind, but there is one particular recipe I look forward to during the summer.  Stuffed bell peppers.  I've made a lot of variations of stuffed bell peppers and they've all been a hit.

There's something so comforting about stuffed bell peppers.  I grew up on them, so in a way I'm always transported back to my childhood and sitting at the table with my brother and parents.

Margarita Funny Cake

Funny cake, gooey butter cake, Neiman Marcus cake; whatever you call it, this recipes (or recipes similar to it) have been whipped up in kitchen after kitchen for years.  It's an easy cake that requires a few simple ingredients and the end result is nothing less than addicting.  I have to admit, it's still to this day one of my favorite cakes ever.

I't truly is hard to beat the original recipe, but I've played around with a few different variations and the outcome of each of them was delicious.  It doesn't take away from the original, gooey, buttery flavor, it only elevates this amazing dessert.

This margarita funny cake is no different.  Loaded with tons of lemon, lime and orange zest.  The buttery, chewy base is the perfect platform and offset for those strong citrus flavors.

Margarita Biscotti

Some of you probably look at the title of this recipe and think I'm nuts.  "What in the heck is this girl thinking; margarita biscotti?  Um, don't you know biscotti is a breakfast treat not an 'It's 5 o'clock somewhere dessert'?"

While other of you are probably thinking, margarita biscotti?  Heck yeah!  A breakfast cookie that breaks all the rules!  Now I can have my margarita first thing in the morning!

Well, no matter what you are thinking I have one request.  Please give this biscotti a chance.  Whether you are an avid biscotti lover or a margarita maniac, you are going to LOVE this biscotti.  Crunchy cookies packed with tons of lime juice, lime zest and a hint of salt and some white chocolate for balance.  It's then given a healthy drizzle of margarita glaze and sprinkle of tart, lime salt.

Margarita Milkshake

With the weather peeking into the 70's this week it truly does feel like spring.  Now, since I'm in Arkansas I know this weather won't last very long.  I'm sure we'll be dipping back down in the 50's in the next few days.  But right now warmer weather is upon us and when that sun starts shining and cool breezes are blowing I just can't help but crave cool treats.

Treats like milkshakes.  I'm sorry...but when you hear the word milkshake does the song "My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard" start running through your head?  Every time I see the word, take a sip or even think about a milkshake that song starts playing.

Anyway, sorry for the sidetrack.

But, right now the warmer weather has me thinking milkshakes.  And this milkshake, my friends, is the easiest milkshake recipe ever.  Three ingredients, or four if you want to make it an adult milkshake, are all you need to make this deliciously, refreshing shake.

No-Bake Margarita Cheesecake in a Jar

What is it about food in a jar that is so enticing?  I mean, I'm a lover of all foods, but stick it in a cute, little wide-mouthed jar and I swoon!

There's just something about that almost rustic charm of the mason jar.

Aside from mason jars, I'm also a huge fan of cheesecakes.  Cheesecakes in any shape, size and form.  It truly is hard to beat a classic cheesecake; thick, silky, rich cheesecake atop a buttery, crispy graham cracker crust.  YUM!  But there are times when time life just doesn't grant you the 4+ hours hours needed to make, bake and cool the classic cheesecake.

So in times like that I turn to a no-bake cheesecake.

Margarita Dip

Oh, margaritas.  Where do I start?

Who doesn't love a good margarita.  A cold, citrus-y drink served in a glass rimmed by coarse salt granules.  The perfect combination of sweet, sour and salty.  This little thing is the beverage of choice for girls nights, fiestas and accompanying Mexican food.

Did you know this meager little beverage even has it's own holiday?  BUT, it's not just limited to a day.  Something of this drinks power has to have a whole weekend.  The third weekend of February is National margarita weekend!

Ginger Beer Cupid Floats

Valentines day is less that a week away!  Can you believe it?  2016 has rolled around and we seem to just be cruising on through!

I'm dedicating this week to all things Valentines!  Whether you celebrate with your special someone or cozied up on the couch with a glass of red and your favorite movie, I'm sure there will be a recipe or that you can enjoy!

While most people consider Valentines day a celebration strictly between you and your sweetheart, that doesn't mean kids can't join in the fun.  Since Tucker has come into the picture, Valentines is a day we all celebrate together.  Tucker gets a card, a few presents and ALWAYS joins us in the kitchen to cook our special celebratory meal.
These floats are another fun way to involve your kids in the celebration. They can help scoop the ice cream, pour the fizzy beverage and garnish with as much whipped cream as they want!

Ghirardelli Chocolate and Josh Cellars Wines #asweetpairing

I've got two words for you.  Chocolate.  Wine.  Both of these things are amazing on their own, but combine the two and well, you've got a match made in heaven.  Guys, I have a suggestion for you.  If you're still looking for a gift for that special someone, may I recommend a bouquet of her favorite flavors, a bottle of Josh Cellars wine and some Ghirardelli chocolate? Chocolate and wine truly is #asweetparing perfect for Valentines day...or any day of the year.   Our sponsors are making this Valentine's even more sweet by offering a $75.00 gift card to one Lynsey Lou's amazing readers.  Continue reading for more details.

February is here and Valentines day is right around the corner.  Our Valentines usually consists of a good bottle of wine and making one of our favorite, special meals.  As for gifts, Spencer and I typically don't exchange gifts, sometimes he'll get me flowers, some of my favorite cupcakes or maybe some chocolate; but for the most part we tend to keep gifts simple and to a minimum.
Whether you celebrate big or small there are two things that we can all enjoy and that will fit any budget; a bottle of wine and some amazing chocolates.  So when I was at Wal-Mart the other day I decided to scout out their wine selections and their Valentine's section to see what all they had to offer.  I ended up snagging a bottle of Josh Cellars' and a bar and package of Ghirardelli Chocolate.
I've never met a piece of chocolate I didn't like, but I have to give it to Ghirardelli, they know their chocolate.  Ghirardelli is a company that is over 150 years old and is deeply rooted in tradition.  In 1867 a Ghirardelli employee discovered a way to treat cocoa bean that enhanced that chocolaty flavor and this process soon became the industry standard.
A prestigious chocolate, such as Ghirardelli, deserves to be served along side a wine that is just as distinguished.  Josh Cellars wine was created by California vintner Joseph Carr.  Josh Cellars wine was named in honor of Joseph's father who was a volunteer firefighter and also served in the U.S. Army.  Made in California and available from retailers all of the United States, Josh Cellars offers 6 varieties of wines with bold, complex flavors.
So, while you're running around getting all the finale pieces for your Valentine's celebration be sure to stop by Wal-Mart to get a bottle of Josh Cellars wine and some Ghirardelli chocolates. *Not all Wal-mart stores carry wines, so if that's the case with your local store just get your chocolates then head to the nearest liquor store.

I am giving away one $75.00 pre-paid American Express credit card to one lucky reader.  To enter, leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite chocolate and wine.  The winner will be announced on February 13, 2016.  This giveaway is open to all readers within the Unites States.
Good luck and cheers!
Thank you to Ghirardelli and Josh Cellars for sponsoring today's post.  All opinions expressed in this post are mine.
